Laslett International have been involved with e-fuels since 2019. This involvement includes both investment and consulting support to the first mover e-fuels company Nordic Electrofuel AS based in Oslo with the first e-fuels production plant to be built at Herøya in Norway with others planned eleswhere in Norway.
Nordic Electrofuel will utilise renewable electricity, hydrogen, and CO2 to produce Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). This will provide a scalable and viable solution for decarbonizing aviation. The first plant located at Herøya is designed for a yearly production capacity of 10 million litres of synthetic fuels. This will result in a reduction of the CO2 industrial footprint by 25,000 tonnes annually.
Although battery technology is evolving fast, e-fuel can help decrease emissions right now. There are sectors that will have problems with a conversion to battery technology so to speed up the green transformation, e-fuel is an environment friendly option that will contribute to the zero-emission goal.
Laslett International are helping Nordic Electrofuel with this highly innovative project in that it will be the first industrial e-plant for production of synthetic liquid hydrocarbon-based fuel (as opposed to power-to-gas and power-to-methanol) from CO2, water, and renewable electricity.
